Gabrielle's Book Nook

Diane Gabrielle, computer science teacher in the Junior wing, has begun working on a new project for public use at our school: a free library!

She has had this project in the works since before Covid, and with her doing a seasonal cleaning came the perfect time to get the project done.

As of currently, she has left very little comment on the project itself, though our interview did bring up some interesting details.

Her library had many students who volunteered via email, and so far two have shown up to work on the library. The help was appreciated but not enough to get things running just yet.

As stated, this project originated before the Covid-19 lockdown. In our interview, Ms. Gabrielle said:

“Originally it wasn’t supposed to be a free library. About four years ago, there was a group of students that liked doing crocheting and all of that, so we were going to bring in extra yarn and other supplies. It was supposed to be a free craft space for those students. Then covid happened.”

Following this, she talked to Ms. Folts who, according to Ms. Gabrielle, “had always wanted to have a free little library for the students because Ms. Howard’s kids had a lot of books to get rid of.”

When asked about getting more people to help, Ms. Gabrielle respectfully declined, stating that the kids in Ms. Howard’s class would be brought on to help.

Ms. Gabrielle’s goal is to have the free library up by the end of the month. For more information, feel free to go and ask!

Her room is the first on the left from the cafeteria entrance.
