Jim Thorpe Area High School’s Student Council is planning the school-wide Spirit days for the week of October 23rd through October 27th, 2023.
This year’s spirit week will feature differently themed days for grades 9th-12th within our highschool. To participate, you must buy a wristband the week before.
Spirit week is designed to show our Olympian school pride and spirit leading up to the big game Friday night against the Lehighton Indians, our rivals.
Monday there will be an Adam Sandler day. On that day, students have the opportunity to dress up in Adam Sandler’s signature style with hockey jerseys, oversized graphic tees, cargo or basketball shorts/pants, tennis shoes, sneakers, and don’t forget his signature sunglasses!
On Tuesday, the theme will be Biker vs Surfer. Students will be able to decide between Hawaiian shirts, board shorts, and flower necklaces or leather jackets, boots, and jeans.
Wednesday will be Costume Day where students get to pick their own theme, dressing in whatever costume they choose.
Towards the end of the week we have Barbie and Ken Day on Thursday, where students can wear their favorite colorful accessories and outfits that go along with Ken and Barbie.
Lastly, Friday ends spirit week leading to the big game by showing your spirit by wearing our school colors on the annual Olympian Fanatic Day, which has been a part of Spirit Week for almost 40 years.
Friday ends off with the Pep Rally before the biggest and last football game of the season. Dress in your school colors to show some spirit!
This week, October 16th through October 20th, the Student Council will be selling wristbands during lunch for $5 each to participate in spirit week.
The wristbands are sold to raise awareness for the upcoming festive week along with raising money for the Student Council Scholarships which are rewarded to the graduating members of the council towards the end of the school year.
Purchase a wristband to contribute to a good cause while also participating in showing your school spirit!
All students and staff at JTAHS are encouraged to dress up and participate in spirit week to not only show our school’s spirit, but also start off a new school year festively.
Show off your outfits everyday of the week and spread your creativity and Olympian support. Don’t forget to buy a wristband to contribute to the scholarships for the end of the year and participate!
For more information on the upcoming spirit week, everyone is welcome to attend a student council meeting when announced during PODS.
