Girl's tennis has had a strong start this season after practicing hard all of the end of July and through the start of their games.
Full of both under and upperclassmen, the team is lovely and ready to defeat their roster this year.
An important aspect to tennis is understanding the format of which it is played and scored.
Tennis is played in a 3-2 format which means there are three singles and two doubles.
Singles is a 1v1 while doubles is a 2v2.
Scores work by starting as LOVE, and as a player earns points it goes to 15, 30, and then 40.
If players are tied 40-40, that is called a DEUCE. This means either one can play either AD or NO AD, AD means they have to win by two points on DEUCE, while NO AD means they get to pick the side of the court they receive on if they are playing singles, if they play doubles they get to pick who receives, and they only need to win by one point, opposed to AD which you need to win by two points.
Once in AD, if the person serving gets the point they say AD-IN.
If the person who isn't serving gets the point they say AD-OUT.
(To note, only the person who is serving says the score. )
You also have two tries to get your serve over the net.
With a better understand of the game, these are the singles players for the season:
#1 Keira Reese (Junior)
#2 Chole Tantala (Senior)
#3 Noelanie Sepulveda (Sophomore)
Doubles players are:
